The upper waist and rim are wrapped in a complex, reactive white bubble glaze that mimics organic sea-foam formations, creating distinct cellular clusters where it pooled over the potter's throwing rings. The reflective black interior contains subtle crystalline flecks that catch low ambient light beautifully. It makes a powerful statement displayed solo on a minimalist sideboard or styled as a sensory dining table centrepiece holding green moss spheres or white pillar candles.

Produced by Boksburg East Potteries (BEP) under their celebrated Lucia Ware studio art ceramics label in South Africa. Unmarked base featuring the standard dark gloss-glazed bottom cavity encircled by a crisp, flat cream-colored unglazed standing foot ring typical of this workshop's large-scale output.

This piece utilizes Lucia Ware's rare, manual bubble-blowing reactive glaze technique, which is far less common than their solid or metallic glazes. Because these hand-thrown studio pieces are discontinued and vary significantly in cell distribution, large standalone centrepiece bowls are highly sought after by collectors looking to complete historical trios or assemble symmetrical modern mantle displays.

Original Intended Use: Large decorative fruit bowl or formal salon centrepiece. Alternate Suggested Use: Moody modern catch-all dish or styled low-profile planter bowl.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0748/2163/2198/files/Listing007-October-2026-VintageLuciaWareBubbleGlazeVolcanicBlackCentrepieceBowlONE_15.jpg?v=1791126769
