Newsletter 11: The Art of Looking 🖼️

This week — The Art of Looking 🖼️

The curator gathers art that brings depth, beauty and a fresh perspective to your home. More than decoration for a wall, each work invites a moment of discovery, enriching your surroundings and offering something new to notice over time.

Some artworks reward a second look. This week’s selection includes two English botanical prints, Sessile Oak and Sweet Chestnut, alongside the detailed W. Krüger Hannover architectural suite, pieces to linger over and imagine in your own space.

English Botany Sessile Oak print, Plate 1289

Sessile Oak, Plate 1289

A botanical study of the oak’s leaves, stem and acorns, paired with an uncoloured outline study. A companion to the Sweet Chestnut print.

W. Krüger Hannover Architectural Suite, 58/450

Four architectural cityscapes brought together in one frame, with detailed buildings, period figures and carriages. A piece to spend time looking at, rather than simply passing by.

English Botany Sweet Chestnut print, Plate 1290

Sweet Chestnut, Plate 1290

Fine botanical linework and soft colour, presented as the matching counterpart to Sessile Oak. Together, the two studies offer a considered starting point for a botanical wall.

Recently Homed — Week of 15 October 2026

The Florentine rose set found its new home within the week it was listed, while the Chinese turquoise planter, introduced in last week’s edition, sold just eight days after joining the catalogue. Some treasures barely settle in before their next chapter begins.

This week’s recently homed pieces include two treasures from last week’s Curator’s Vault: the Blue Cornflower percolator and Provincial Blue casserole. Thank you for your continued support!

Read the experiences our customers have shared, and discover the care behind each treasure.

Missing a Piece — or Hunting a Treasure?

I source in two directions. Missing a CorningWare lid, plate, or pattern piece? Use the replacement request.

Looking for something beyond the catalogue — artwork, brass pretties, a particular maker, or one very specific treasure? Use the unlisted treasure request.

Chapter 10: I See You, Reseller

This week, I reflect on the balance between mutual respect and firm business boundaries. From sharing research on the auction floor to explaining why a recent find takes time to reach the catalogue, this chapter explores the work behind curation, the value of preserving an object’s story, and why generosity does not mean surrendering your margin.
