Mid-century Carlton Ware serving dish shaped like a textured, veined leaf. The interior features a soft primrose yellow ground, embellished with raised, hand-painted foxglove flowers in shades of pink, mauve, and deep purple, balanced by textured green foliage.

The Foxglove pattern remains one of the most celebrated examples of British floral majolica-style earthenware from the mid-century period. Each piece required multistage hand-painting by specialized factory artisans before undergoing its final gloss glaze firing.

Original Intended Use: Salad or fruit serving dish, or a formal tabletop confectionery bowl.

Alternate Suggested Use: Statement vanity tray for fine jewellery, or a standalone display piece in a vintage china cabinet.

Good vintage condition with clear signs of historic authenticity.

Visible Flaws: Minor age-related wear. Highly visible, tight glaze crazing across the front and rear surfaces, typical for mid-century English earthenware bodies. Light discoloration spots underneath the glaze on the base ring, along with minor shelf dust and standard production glaze skips on the underside. No chips, cracks, or restorations detected.
