Coloured Glass: Jeanette Glass Marigold Cake Serving Plate

Vintage Jeannette Glass Marigold Platter.

A large, round vintage pressed glass serving tray finished in a deep amber-marigold carnival iridescence.

The underside features a highly textured herringbone backdrop under a central relief bouquet of irises, framed beautifully by a dramatic, scalloped rim. This would be magnificent when used to serve carrot cake with white frosting.

Original Intended Use: Premium serving platter for formal tea pastries, cold confectionery, or finger sandwiches.

Alternate Suggested Use: A high-end vanity tray for luxury cologne and perfume bottles, or a striking light-catching dining centrepiece.

Did you Know?

The Jeannette Glass Company of Pennsylvania introduced the "Iris and Herringbone" pattern during the peak Depression glass era of 1928–1932. It stood out for its structural weight and high-relief mold work.

This deeper, golden-bronze coloration is an authentic variation of the classic marigold lustre, achieved through targeted variations in the metallic salt spray volume applied right before the glass entered the cooling kiln.

Origin & Era

Made in the US, 1928–1932.

Dimensions

Approximate Dimensions: Outer Diameter 29cm, Inner Diameter 24cm, Height 2cm.

Vintage Condition

Excellent vintage condition showcasing superb clarity and intense lustre.

Visible Flaws: Minor age-related wear. Features minor, microscopic factory cooling lines and tiny air bubbles trapped deep inside the thick glass wall, which are expected manufacturing traits of authentic 1930s machine moulding. Very faint, negligible surface storage rubs are visible on the rear contact ring, with completely clean, chip-free scalloped edges.
