More Details

Eetrite is one of South Africa's most beloved and enduring cutlery brands, producing quality stainless steel flatware for the local market from the mid-20th century onwards. Their embossed pattern ranges — including Rosita, Florentine, and Baroque — became staples of South African dining rooms throughout the 1960s, 1970s, and 1980s. Finding a complete 12-piece fish set in its original box is increasingly uncommon, as individual pieces were frequently separated or lost over decades of use.

Did you Know?

Dedicated fish cutlery sets were a standard feature of formal South African dining rooms from the 1950s through the 1980s, reflecting the strong British dining tradition of serving a separate fish course at dinner parties. The blunt-bladed fish knife was specifically engineered to separate delicate fish flesh from the bone without shredding it — a task that a standard sharp dinner knife would make a mess of. Finding a matched Eetrite set with both knives and forks intact in the original box is a genuine collector's find today.
