Florentine Ware: Florentine Scalloped Cabbage Rose Distressed Set, 5

A delightfully romantic, time-worn 5-piece set of authentic Mid-Century Italian Florentine decorative trays.

This curated set includes a central master bottle tray and four matching nested coasters, all featuring classic scalloped rims accented with a gilded basket-weave border and decorated with classical pink and white Trianon cabbage rose bouquets. Hand-stamped on the bases "Florence Italy," these lightweight pieces carry a heavily distressed, weathered patina that brings authentic old-world European character to the tabletop. Perfect as a shabby-chic wine bottle and glass coaster set, an elegant coffee plunger station, or a vintage bedroom vanity layout for housing antique perfume vials.

Handcrafted in Florence, Italy, during the mid-20th century revival era, a region celebrated for its ornate baroque-style lacquered papier-mâché and gilded decorative wares. The four side coasters feature the authentic, hand-impressed "FLORENCE ITALY" studio stamp clean on their bases. The master tray features a smooth base indentation where the original paper studio export label once rested. Formed from traditional Italian resin-mâché composition, lightweight yet highly structural, and finished with a protective cream lacquer overlay.

Original Intended Use: Boutique bedroom vanity perfume tray and cosmetic coasters. Alternate Suggested Use: Shabby-chic wine bottle coaster and wine glass set, or a romantic coffee plunger and mug serving station.

Vintage 5-piece Italian Florentine rose-decorated tray collection.
Components: 1 Master Bottle Tray (13.5cm) + 4 Matching Side Coasters (9.5cm).
Classical romantic pink and white cabbage rose botanical motifs.
Heavily distressed, time-worn vintage patina with rich antique character.

Florentine lacquered trays became massive collector items for global travellers in the 1960s, heavily inspired by the historic gold-leaf and gesso techniques used by Renaissance framesmiths in Tuscany.

Made in Florence, Italy, during the Mid-Century Era circa 1960s, making this set 60 years of age!

Each piece is researched with care and supported by comprehensive historical notes drawn from available sources, comparative analysis, and archival references. While I am not a certified appraiser or authentication specialist, my attributions reflect careful independent research and may be refined as new evidence emerges. These notes are offered to enrich understanding and appreciation of each item, rather than as formal guarantees of age, provenance, or authenticity.

Master Serving Tray: 13.5cm Diameter; Individual Side Coasters: 9.5cm Diameter each.

Heavily Distressed Vintage Condition — Full Disclosure. Visible Flaws: This set has been well-loved and shows clear signs of age and historical use. Multiple pieces display visible paint loss, surface scorches, and small localized burn marks from past decades (where they were unfortunately used as temporary ashtrays). The edges show wear to the gilding and minor rim flaking. This set is sold strictly as a character piece with a time-worn, weathered "Shabby Chic" aesthetic; please review the unedited close-up images carefully to appreciate its historical journey.
