Master Potter: Master Yamato Shōgan - Showcase Art
Vintage Japanese Hagi Ware (Hagi-Yaki) Master Ceremonial Ido-Gata Footed Centrepiece Bowl.
A substantial studio vessel showcasing an incredibly soulful minimalist silhouette, rising dramatically from a high heavy pedestal foot into a sweeping wide-rimmed conical basin. The bowl features Hagi's world-renowned Biwa-iro (loquat-fruit coloured) glaze — a soft warm oatmeal-honey undertone enveloped in an exceptionally dense intricate web of natural kiln-crazed crackle lines.
The dramatic visual signature is the thick dark chocolate-iron glaze dip decorating the entire outer rim profile, paired with a matching heavy glaze pool across the high pedestal footer. The interior basin underbelly is covered in a deep highly vitrified dark iron glaze accented by three traditional circular spur marks. This piece represents the pinnacle of Japanese Wabi-Sabi philosophy, aligning perfectly with Minimalist Luxury, Japandi Curation, and Architectural Earthy design trends.
Original Intended Use: Large-format ceremonial tea presentation vessel, master seasonal fruit bowl, or dynamic floral ikebana arranger for luxury traditional salons.
Alternate Suggested Use: A high-impact structural focal centrepiece on a premium raw-oak dining table, styled inside an illuminated slate console alcove, or displayed standalone as fine architectural ceramic art.
