Stunning set of 4 vintage 1950s Dessert Coupes in Emerald Green — a beautiful example of American Depression Glass, mass-produced during the economic downturn of the 1920s–40s by manufacturers such as U.S. Glass and Federal Glass Company.

Depression Glass was mass-produced in the United States from the 1920s through the 1940s, distributed cheaply through five-and-dime stores, given away as cinema premiums, and included in cereal boxes to help struggling families afford tableware during the Great Depression. The emerald green colour — one of the most popular Depression Glass hues — was achieved by adding iron oxide to the glass batch during production.

Federal Glass Company (Columbus, Ohio) and U.S. Glass Company were among the most prolific producers of green Depression Glass, creating hundreds of patterns that are now actively collected worldwide.
