Vases: Vintage Recycled Forest Green Demijohn Handle Vase

This commanding, eco-conscious vintage glass vase brings a monumental layer of sustainable South African manufacturing history, rich color, and exceptional vertical scale straight into a contemporary space.

Handcrafted by the iconic Consol Glass company, this impressive estate-sized vessel is struck from heavy, premium forest green glass. The design features a tall, sweeping demijohn bottle silhouette, a practical integrated loop pouring handle at the neck, and features the original embossed text "I'm 100% Recycled" running cleanly along the lower baseline border. Standing at an exceptional 45cm height, the dense green glass interacts dynamically with ambient light, casting a rich, watery jewel-toned glow across a room.

This beautiful statement piece adds an immediate layer of organic warmth and eco-luxe sophistication when utilized as a tall floral vase for expansive botanical arrangements, or displayed as a prominent textural feature on a sunlit window sill or rustic sideboard console.

Original Intended Use: Eco-friendly promotional beverage decanter or sustainable household display.

Alternate Suggested Use: A commanding architectural vase for large faux peonies and eucalyptus stems, an elegant graphic accent for a sunlit farmhouse kitchen windowsill, or a character-rich feature prop for sustainable interior design staging shoots.

Did you Know?

Glass is one of the absolute miracles of the recycling world because it is one of the few materials on Earth that can be recycled infinitely, over and over again, with absolutely zero loss in quality, purity, or structural strength!

When Consol melted down old discarded green bottles to fuse this specific piece, they saved massive amounts of energy and carbon emissions compared to manufacturing virgin glass from scratch.

By turning a simple eco-campaign bottle into a premium, stylized floral centerpiece, you are fulfilling the exact loop of the design—transforming an ordinary piece of local industrial glass into a permanent heirloom work of art!

Origin & Era

Made in South Africa, c. Late 20th / Early 21st Century, standing as an iconic local monument to sustainable glass art history.

Dimensions

Approximate Dimensions: Height 45cm, Base Diameter 15cm, Top Mouth Open Diameter 2.5cm.

Vintage Condition

Great vintage collector condition with an exceptionally sound, heavy glass structure, zero chips to the loop handle, zero structural cracks, and zero interior residue film cloudiness. The forest green glass surface holds a magnificent gloss through out.

Visible Flaws: Displays light, expected age-appropriate surface signs of honest historic domestic handling and genuine environmental exposure. There is a visible surface scratch line present on the glass body, measuring approximately 10cm in length, located directly above the embossed recycled note. This character line is entirely superficial, does not affect the structural integrity of the heavy glass wall, and serves as an authentic marker of its vintage life.
