Exquisite pair of professionally framed Rajasthani Elephant Miniatures.

A stunning themed set of traditional Indian miniature paintings from the Jaipur school. These are not prints — they are hand-painted artworks using natural stone pigments and traditional techniques.

Perfectly matched in gold-toned frames, they make a magnificent ready-to-hang statement for a study, lounge, or gallery wall.

More Details

Artwork 1: The Royal Elephant on Vintage Revenue Paper
Depicts a majestic royal elephant rendered in rich mineral pigments. Painted on authentic vintage Jeypoor (Jaipur) Government Court Fee Stamp Paper (pre-1950s). Includes the original blue government seal and fine calligraphy in Hindi and Urdu.

Artwork 2: The Royal Procession (Ambawari) with 22kt Gold Leaf
A Maharaja seated in a ceremonial golden howdah, representing prosperity and historical grandeur. Signed by the artist, Vivek. Features genuine 22kt gold leaf (Hilkari) accents that catch the light beautifully.

Both pieces were professionally curated and framed by Crafty Framing & Gallery in high-quality, matched gold-flecked wooden frames.

The combination of the authentic vintage government seal on the first piece and the real gold leaf on the second makes this a rare find for collectors of international folk art or South Africans looking for unique, high-end décor.

Did you Know?

Why They Are Called "Miniatures"
The term actually comes from the Latin word minium, which was a red lead pigment used in medieval manuscripts. Over time, any painting made with these precise, detailed techniques became known as a "miniature".

Even though the artwork is relatively large, it is still classified as Indian Miniature Paintings because they follow these traditional rules:

  1. Intricate Detail: These works use extremely fine, single-hair brushes to capture details that are much smaller than real life, like the individual lines in an elephant's skin or the patterns on a royal robe.
  2. Narrative Style: They were originally designed to illustrate stories or "miniaturize" grand historical and mythological scenes into a portable format.
  3. Technique over Scale: In this tradition, a wall-sized mural could technically be painted "in miniature" if it used these specific layering and detailing methods.
