Three-Dimensional Wall Art: Antique Victorian Silvered Bronze High-Relief Equestrian Plaque

Three-Dimensional Wall Art: Antique Victorian Silvered Bronze High-Relief Equestrian Plaque

This authentic 19th-century European high-relief cast bronze equestrian profile features a beautifully detailed thoroughbred head in full presentation bridle work, complete with integrated white-metal bit chains.

Set against a matte black structural core and enclosed within its original thick, deep-moulded quarter-sawn solid oak frame, this massive statement piece commands attention on an executive study wall or library mantel.

Produced during the height of the late Victorian animalier movement, a 19th-century European artistic period dedicated to capturing anatomical precision and realistic muscle structures of prized domestic stock. Cast as a single thick bronze relief plate, the surface retains an authentic, multi-layered silvered plating overlay showing deep charcoal tarnish and natural rubbing lines along the high-relief planes. Factual confirmation of an embossed circular workshop monogram foundry hallmark struck directly into the bronze on the lower-left neck margin. The reverse of the dense, hand-milled wood chassis retains its original 19th-century tie-wire loops, hand-forged square iron corner brads, and a weathered South African heritage shipping tag handwritten in fountain pen ink identifying early colonial turf pedigree from "J. C. Gouws, 1 P. v.d. Merwe, Bloemfontein.

Original Intended Use: Elite institutional gallery exhibition or country manor library accent piece. Alternate Suggested Use: Prominent focal antiquity for an executive boardroom mantel, law office tier, or high-end entry display.
