Highly Dangerous and Costly Production - Unlike ordinary green or amber glass made using common, cheap iron oxides, creating true Ruby Red translucent glass required adding highly volatile, rare chemical minerals like selenium, cadmium, or even actual gold chlorides directly into the roaring molten mixture.

The Hazard: If the immense temperatures fluctuated by even a few degrees during casting, the entire batch of molten glass would destabilize, either turning a muddy brown or cracking instantly under thermal cooling stress.

The Cost: Because of the strict manufacturing failure rate and the hazardous, expensive raw metallic powders involved, Arcoroc limited the production of "Rouge" to highly selective, restricted timeframes in the 1970s. 

High Collector Demand - The global demand for mid-century "Jewel-Tone" kitchenware and Hollywood Regency collectibles has skyrocketed, heavily driven by trendy international vintage interior stylists, lifestyle magazines, and editorial set designers.
