Arcoroc: Smoked Glass Beehive Bowls

Mid-century modern smoked glass dessert bowls by Arcoroc France.

This specific ribbed pattern — often called the "Beehive" or "Jardiniere" pattern — was primarily produced during the 1960s and 1970s. Made from tempered glass (Verre Trempé), a revolutionary heat- and shock-resistant technology at the time.

Manufactured in Arques, France by Arc International. The embossed "FRANCE" on the base is a hallmark of this production.

More Details

The beehive ribbing runs vertically around the full exterior of each bowl, creating a beautifully tactile grip surface while refracting light through the smoky grey glass body. The tempered construction means these bowls are significantly more durable than standard glass, resistant to thermal shock, and safe for everyday use as well as display.

Did you Know?

The Beehive (Jardiniere) pattern was one of Arc International's most widely exported designs during the 1960s–70s, appearing in homes across France, South Africa, the UK, and Australia. Smoked glass versions are now among the most sought-after colourways by mid-century modern collectors, prized for their moody, sophisticated aesthetic that pairs beautifully with both retro and contemporary interiors.
