Baking Dish: Rörstrand Sweden 'Gratina' No.8 Oxblood Ceramic Baking Dish

A sleek, highly collectible piece of mid-century Scandinavian modern ovenware designed by the legendary Hertha Bengtson for the premier Swedish manufacture Rörstrand.

This "Gratina" No.8 roasting or baking dish showcases a minimalist rectangular silhouette with integrated handles, finished in a striking, rich glossy oxblood maroon-red exterior glaze. The interior is lined with a high-contrast white glaze, resting on a specialized ribbed heat-dispersing raw porcelain base. Combining mid-century industrial utility with sophisticated Nordic table styling, this functional design piece is a beautiful addition to any mid-century modern kitchen or Scandinavian art pottery collection.

Designer Lineage: Designed by Hertha Bengtson, one of Sweden's most influential mid-century ceramic artists, famed for her trailblazing functionalism designs for Rörstrand and Höganäs. Factory Authentication: The base carries the crisp, stamped Rörstrand Sweden crown insignia, the "GRATINA OVENWARE" model script, and the distinct casting mold number 8. Mid-Century Functionalism: Launched in the 1950s, the Gratina series was a revolutionary material design breakthrough, engineered from high-durability porcelain to go directly from a roaring oven to a sophisticated hosting table.

Original Intended Use: Premium oven-to-table roasting or gratin baking dish. Alternate Suggested Use: Mid-century modern kitchen cabinet display accent or a striking countertop fruit vessel.
