CarltonWare: Apple Blossom Cruet Set

Vintage Carlton Ware "Apple Blossom" Three-Piece Condiment Cruet Set.

Perfectly nestled on its own footed leaf-shaped presentation stand, this exquisite tableware grouping features three separate pieces meticulously sculpted as textured pale-green orchard apples. The collection includes a salt shaker, a pepper shaker, and a lidded mustard/honey pot topped with a sculpted blossom finial. Each piece is entirely hand-painted with beautifully saturated blooming pink and yellow apple blossoms nestled alongside rich green foliage.

From Carlton Ware's legendary mid-century "Australian Design" series, launched in the late 1930s. The tray bears the iconic script backstamp and the mustard pot features the authentic incised registration number 2117. Both shakers retain their original cork bottom bungs — a complete, four-piece set entirely free of chips.

Original Intended Use: Individual tabletop salt, pepper, and gourmet mustard condiment serving caddy.

More Details

Carlton Ware is a deeply prestigious British art pottery manufacturer founded in Stoke-on-Trent, England, in 1890.

This specific set belongs to their legendary mid-century "Australian Design" series, which launched in the late 1930s to feature highly dimensional, botanical tablescapes. The tray proudly bears the iconic script backstamp, and the mustard pot features the authentic incised style registration number 2117 hand-pressed into the unglazed clay base. Finding a complete, four-piece set entirely free of chips with its original shaker corks still intact is a dream find for high-end cottagecore collectors.

Did you Know?

Carlton Ware's "Australian Design" series was so named not because it was made in Australia, but because the bold, three-dimensional botanical forms — apples, strawberries, water lilies — were inspired by the lush, exotic flora that captivated British designers in the post-war era. The series became one of Carlton Ware's most commercially successful and internationally exported lines, and complete sets with original corks and trays intact are among the most actively sought pieces by Carlton Ware collectors worldwide today.
