Stunning large Mid-Century Modern Art Deco Glass Pitcher — a beautiful authentic example of Italian glass artistry, likely produced in Empoli, Tuscany, circa 1950s.

This large, heavy hand-blown pitcher features a crystal-clear optic-ribbed body with vibrant hand-applied emerald green accents on the handle and matching tapered pedestal foot. A polished pontil mark on the base confirms its hand-blown heritage.

A perfect statement piece for a bar cart, dining table centrepiece, or as a high-end decorative vase. Origin note: the original paper label has been lost to washing — this piece is sold as Empoli-style based on its design characteristics and construction.

Empoli, a small town in Tuscany, was one of Italy's most prolific centres for decorative glass production throughout the mid-20th century. Empoli glasshouses were renowned for their bold use of colour — particularly deep greens, ambers, and blues — applied as handles, feet, and decorative accents against clear or tinted bodies.

The optic-ribbed body technique, where the glass is blown into a ribbed mould and then expanded to create elegant vertical lines, was a signature Empoli production method that gave their pieces exceptional light-refracting brilliance.

The polished pontil mark on the base of this pitcher is the glassblower's signature — it marks where the iron rod (pontil) was attached to hold the piece while the rim was finished.
