Glass Pitcher: Art Deco Dewdrop Pitcher, Jeannette Glass

Vintage 1950s Jeannette Glass Dewdrop Clear Panelled Pitcher with Ice Lip — a heavy, large-capacity utility beverage pitcher manufactured in Pennsylvania, USA by the renowned Jeannette Glass Company.

Designed for serving ice water, fresh juices, milk, or homemade iced tea, it features a beautifully moulded ice-guard pouring lip that prevents large ice cubes from splashing out while pouring.

The iconic "Dewdrop" pattern showcases an Art Deco-inspired alternating design of crystal-clear fluted vertical columns and heavily stippled pebbled glass panels — highly practical for busy mid-century kitchens as it elegantly masked fingerprints and provided a secure non-slip grip on a cold, condensation-heavy pitcher.

More Details

The Jeannette Glass Company, founded in 1898 in Jeannette, Pennsylvania, was one of America's most prolific pressed glass manufacturers. They pioneered fully automated glassmaking machinery in the early 20th century, producing Depression Glass, kitchenware, and decorative tableware that became staples of American households from the 1920s through the 1970s.

The Dewdrop pattern (produced circa 1953–56) is one of their most recognisable and collectible designs, prized today by American Depression Glass collectors worldwide.

Did you Know?

The subtle straw or golden hue visible in this pitcher under direct natural light is a classic hallmark of authentic vintage manganese-treated glass. During WWII, manganese — normally used to decolourise glass — became scarce, so manufacturers switched to selenium. Post-war pieces made with manganese gradually develop this warm amber tint when exposed to UV light over decades, making it a reliable age indicator for collectors.
