High Tea: Midwinter Magnolia Condiment Server Set

Exceptionally Rare 2-Piece Vintage Mid-Century Modern Midwinter Magnolia Condiment Set.

Produced by the legendary Staffordshire pottery house W.R. Midwinter Ltd, this matching duo features the beautifully illustrative and iconic "Magnolia" pattern on the celebrated Stylecraft Fashion shape. The set includes one tall lidded jam or preserve jar with a cut-out spoon notch on the rim, paired with one short wide lidded sugar or mustard pot.

Both vessels display hand-painted style pink and charcoal-toned magnolia blossoms with olive foliage over a warm cream satin glaze, topped with their original high-lustre spun aluminium lids capped by architectural space-age chrome pillar finials.

Original Intended Use: Elegant presentation and storage for breakfast marmalades, jams, honeys, or table sugars and mustards.

More Details

The absolute highlight of this particular set is its incredibly scarce hardware configuration: both pieces are topped with their original, high-lustre spun aluminium lids capped by architectural, space-age chrome pillar finials.

The undersides are stamped with a crisp, underglaze crown hallmark verifying their authentic mid-century English heritage.

Did you Know?

Did you know that the "Magnolia" pattern, introduced on Roy Midwinter's famous "Stylecraft" and "Fashion" shapes in the 1950s, was a revolutionary design that helped shift post-war British ceramics away from fussy Victorian florals and into clean, atomic-era homes?

Finding these specific preserve and sugar pots complete with their original spun metal lids is an incredible rarity today. Most metal tops were lost, dented, or thrown into scrap drives over the decades, leading collectors to pay top dollar to find intact sets.

Origin & Era

Made in Staffordshire, England, Circa 1950s-1960s.
