Pair of vintage oil lamps in the Turkey Foot / Moon and Star design.

Made in Hong Kong in the 1970s. The oil lamp base is made with pressed blue glass and screws onto the footer. Original glass chimneys are not included — a lovely set of pressed glass in yellow has been paired with them as a pretty match.

One lamp is slightly taller than the other. They make a striking pair whether used as functional lamps or purely as décor pieces.

The Turkey Foot (also known as Moon & Star) pressed glass pattern was a popular decorative motif for oil and kerosene lamps produced in Hong Kong during the 1960s–70s for export to Western markets. The geometric star and crescent forms create beautiful light refractions when the lamp is lit, casting intricate shadow patterns across walls and ceilings.

The Moon & Star pattern was originally inspired by the L.E. Smith Glass Company's American pressed glass designs of the 1880s. Hong Kong manufacturers adapted and mass-produced the pattern during the mid-20th century for the global export market, making these lamps a beloved fixture in South African, British, and Australian homes throughout the 1970s.

Vintage Condition

The glass chimneys are not perfect, as indicated, it is not yellow glass, but glass that is coloured yellow.

These lamps were filled with some yucky old oil, and I tried my best to get them clean. Minor age-related wear.
