Master Potter: Chris Patton - Exhibition Scale Studio Pottery Charger

Exhibition-scale signed Chris Patton Crazallia Dragonfly Charger.

This is a massive, exhibition-scale handmade studio ceramic charger platter by master potter Chris Patton.

Wheel-thrown from heavy stoneware clay, the piece features an expressive hand-painted nature motif depicting a large dragonfly in mid-flight next to a botanical branch with sage-green leaves and detailed seed pods. The central scene is framed by a thick, dark iron-glazed border along the lip that contrasts against the warm cream-speckled clay basin.

Original Intended Use: A grand exhibition display charger, large entertainment serving platter, or a premium fruit centrepiece bowl.

Alternate Suggested Use: Fine art gallery wall feature, mantelpiece focal point, or a cornerstone addition to a collection of elite South African studio ceramics.

Born in Belfast and trained at the Belfast College of Art, Patton emigrated to South Africa in 1982 and quickly became one of the most celebrated second-generation South African studio potters.
