Planter: Mid-Century Green Drip-Glaze Pedestal Bowl

A wonderfully tactile vintage earthenware pottery bowl featuring an architectural, stepped pedestal collar shape. The wide, flared rim is finished with a rich, running border of deep forest-green slip glaze that drips beautifully down a warm, sand-toned ceramic body. This makes a distinctive planter for a dense cluster of live succulents or a trailing string-of-pearls plant on a brightly lit windowsill.

Original Intended Use: A decorative art pottery bulb bowl, planter, or interior accent piece. Alternate Suggested Use: A high-texture accent piece for styling retro country décor, a unique keys bowl, or a standalone countertop statement piece.

This heavy-fired ceramic piece represents the popular mid-century studio and commercial art pottery movement, which favoured earthy tones, tactile glazes, and organic drip effects. The dramatic green running glaze treatment over a matte buff body is highly characteristic of retro studio earthenware styles from this era. The base of the piece is completely un-marked and un-stamped, which was highly common for decorative studio pottery and giftware lines sold through independent mid-century boutiques and nurseries. The concentric rings on the interior base and underside highlight its specialized molded casting process.
