T.G. Green: Cornish Ware Blue: Dreadnought Pitcher
T.G. Green & Co. Cornishware 1.5-Pint "Dreadnought" Milk/Water Pitcher.
It features the globally celebrated, iconic broad horizontal bands of deep cobalt blue and clean white earthenware slip glaze.
The "Dreadnought" shape features an ultra-robust, wide-based cylindrical body designed for heavy daily farmhouse kitchen use, paired with a sharp, integrated low-profile pouring spout. A thick, beautifully moulded ear-shaped handle is securely applied to the rear. The crisp white stripes are produced via traditional English lathe-turning, where bands of the hand-applied blue slip are precision-scraped away on a spinning wheel to reveal the cream earthenware clay body matrix beneath prior to clear glazing.
Hand-crafted by T.G. Green & Co. at the historic Church Gresley potteries in Derbyshire, England. Cornishware has been a beloved staple of high-end British farmhouse design since its introduction in 1926.
Display Suggestion: This iconic blue-and-white motif serves as a striking visual anchor in country kitchens or modern coastal interiors. Display it prominently on open shelving alongside copper accents or rustic wooden boards to highlight its vintage silhouette.
Original Intended Use: Large-capacity farmhouse breakfast table milk, juice, iced water, or hot custard pitcher.
