Did you Know?

This trio is special because it includes two "original hand-made" works and a very low edition number (2/100), all in matching, gallery-grade frames.

This year, 1998 was a particularly active period in her career, during which her printmaking and painting styles were heavily influenced by her veterinarian studies and African rock art.

In 1998, Nicolene Swanepoel exhibited in major group shows, including "The Spirit and Images of Africa" in Pretoria and a show at the Dorp Street Gallery in Stellenbosch.

This period followed her major international wins in France (1994) and the USA (1997), which likely contributed to the high demand for her limited-run series.

During the late 90s, she focused on these dark-ground, stylized animal and figure studies, which she later shifted away from in the 2000s to focus on sculptural ceramics.

Because these are from a peak award-winning era for the artist, their 1998 provenance makes them more collectible for those following her evolution from veterinarian-artist to world-renowned sculptor.
