Wood Décor: Live-Edge Hardwood Tree Bark Vase
This unusual, highly graphic vintage vase brings a bold layer of organic texture, local design history, and striking Brutalist geometry straight into a contemporary space.
Handcrafted by a local master woodturner and originally sourced from the historic Organic Village Market in Bryanston, this unique collectible is lathe-turned directly from a singular, solid log section of native hardwood. The design features a dramatic "live-edge" or natural-rind body, preserving the tree's original thick, deeply grooved rough bark exterior. The upper rim and flared neck have been turned to a glass-smooth satin finish, beautifully revealing the warm golden-amber heartwood hidden beneath the rough outer layer.
Retaining its original heritage paper label on the underside, this beautifully preserved folk art vessel serves as an earthy, deeply texturized statement ideal for holding dry botanicals, or styled as a standalone artistic vignette piece.
Original Intended Use: Ornamental dry wildflower display pot or desktop centrepiece.
Alternate Suggested Use: A highly texturized styling accent for a minimalist mid-century entryway setup, an earthy decorative capsule for a Brutalist interior vignette, or a premium character-rich staging prop for contemporary South African architecture photography shoots.
